Meta, the parent of Facebook and Instagram launched a new app called, Thread which can now be downloaded on the app store.

Thread is said to be a user-friendly app that is very similar to Twitter which was bought by Elon Musk sometime in October 2022.

According to Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, “Thread is an open and friendly public space for conversation. Our vision is to take the best parts of Instagram and create a new experience for text, ideas, and discussing what’s on your mind. I think the world needs this kind of friendly community, and I’m grateful to all of you who are part of Thread from day one. Threads are available on the app store now.”

In a report that was made by BBC News, ten million users had signed up for Meta’s newly-launched Threads app in its first seven hours.

Mark Zuckerberg when asked whether the app will be bigger than Twitter responded as he said, “It’ll take some time, but I think there should be a public conversations app with 1 billion+ people on it. Twitter has had the opportunity to do this but hasn’t nailed it. Hopefully, we will.”

All you need to know about Thread

On the just newly launched app, posts can be shared to Instagram and vice versa which can also include photos, videos, and even links.

Users can post and also see other users’ posts, restriction, blocking, and reporting other profiles are also included in the feature of Thread.

Another quality is that users are able to control who mentions them and filter out replies to posts that contain specific words. The app is available for anyone aged 12 and over and also has 31 different languages.

To get the Thread app, anyone can download it as long as you run on IOS 14 or a more recent version, at the moment thread is not available for users using Android in the UK and US.

The app is also free of charge for now but anyone can’t say for sure if it will continue to be free, recall that Meta launched a paid-for verification service on Instagram and Facebook.

Thread is labeled a Twitter killer by experts who believed that Thread will do better and would replace the old app, Twitter.

The launch of Thread is coming after Elon Musk insisted that users with the verification blue tick must pay a certain amount to keep it.

This hasn’t been the only change Twitter has made since Elon Musk took over, a few days ago, Elon Musk announced a temporary restriction on how many posts a user can read on the application.

According to the mail online, Twitter users who chalk up the $8 a month to become verified can view up to 6,000 daily tweets. Unverified users can see up to 600 tweets a day, and new unverified accounts can see up to 300 tweets a day.
