Twitter verification now requires money

The new verification process requires users to pay $8 monthly to subscribe to ‘Twitter Blue’ to retain their verification badge or obtain a new one.

Many users unwilling to pay the subscription fee lost their verification badges. This change affected not only celebrities but also journalists and other verified accounts.

Musk had advocated for Twitter to improve its profitability since November, and eliminating the legacy verification system was a step in that direction.
