Nigerian on-air personality Oladotun Ojuolape Kayode, popularly known as Do2Tun has explained the need for Nigerians to charge their clients in Naira and not in Dollars.
It’s no secret that the Nigerian currency has experienced devaluation, with the exchange rate currently at around N1000 to a dollar. This has led to many businesses and individuals opting to charge their clients in dollars.
However, Do2Tun has taken a different stance on this matter. In response to fashion designer Veekee James, who mentioned charging in dollars due to the high cost of importing fabrics, Do2Tun has encouraged Nigerians to charge in their own currency instead.

He explained charging in dollars worsens the economy and devalues the Naira.
He wrote, “An absolute wrong take. Americans charge you in dollars. British charge you in pounds not naira. Even, you have to convert your own Naira to pay them in their own currency. No one said u shld not charge.
“In Nigeria, charge in Naira. Others, charge them in their own currency. You are charging in dollars in Nigeria but you are paying your taxes in Naira.. Dey play.”
He further questioned the business owners as to why they don’t pay their staff in dollars since they also charge in dollars.
“You charge in dollars.. do you pay your staffs in dollars? We need to stop normalizing these things. It cripples the economy and devalues the Naira. If your client is outside Nigeria then that’s understandable. It’s why it’s called foreign exchange. If the government charged you taxes In dollars, would you pay?”
