The Ikare-Akoko born rapper said this goes two ways, “A child needs to be learned to catch up with technology and how the world is evolving.”
“A child should be taught that a living can be made via sports, skills, talents and more…” His tweet shows another side to the common saying that “school na scam.” Below, we shall highlight some of Nigerian artistes that have acquired formal education.
Chinko Ekun
The ‘Able God’ crooner graduated with a law degree from Obafemi Awolowo University, Osun State. He then proceeded to have his youth service in Lagos State. The rapper and singer attended Baptist Model High School for his secondary education. He also attended Blessing Nursery and Primary School and Remade Nursery and Primary School, Lagos State.
Davido
Singer and songwriter, David Adeleke, known by his stage name, Davido, attended British International School, Lagos for his secondary education. At age 16, the philanthropist and artiste moved to the United States to study business administration in Oakwood University. Davido dropped out later to pursue his music career. He moved back to Nigeria in 2011 and enrolled in Babcock University in 2015 where he studied music.
Burna Boy
‘Gbona’ crooner, Damini Ogulu, better known as Burna Boy attended Corona Secondary School, Ogun State. The Odogwu of Africa and Grammy award winner later studied media technology at the University of Sussex between 2008 and 2009. From 2009 to 2010, he studied media communications and culture at Oxford Brookes University.
Teni
Teniola Apata, simply known as Teni attended Apata Memorial High School. She later moved on to study business administration at the University of Georgia. She rounded off the study at American InterContinental University.
Don Jazzy
Born Michael Ajereh, the Mavin Records boss was educated at Federal Government College, Lagos. He had his tertiary education at Ambrose Alli University, Edo, where he studied business management.
Kizz Daniel
Hit song maker, Oluwatobiloba Anidugbe, with stage name Kizz Daniel studied Water Resources Management and Agrometeorology at Federal University of Agriculture, Ogun State. He had his secondary education in Abeokuta Grammar School.
Tems
Award-winning Temilade Openiyi, also known as Tems attended Down College. She then moved on to study economics in Monash South Africa.
Ladipoe
Ladipo Eso, known as Ladipoe who came to limelight after being featured by Show Dem Camp in ‘Feel Alright,’ attended the University of North Carolina. He majored in Biology and Chemistry.
Johnny Drille
Mavin Records artiste, John Ighodaro, better known as Johnny Drille studied English and Literature in the University of Benin, Edo State.
Simi
‘Duduke’ crooner, Simisola Ogunleye, known by her stage name Simi attended Stars International College. She then studied mass communication in Covenant University.
