Brief Biography of the Late Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru.

Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru was the 21st Chief of Army Staff of the Nigerian Army.

He was appointed in January 26th, 2021 by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Attahiru was born on 10th August, 1966 in Doka, Kaduna State.

He was a graduate of the Nigerian Defence Academy, Armed Forces Command and Staff College, and Nigerian Army School of Infantry.

He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant after completing his officer cadet training in 1986 as an Infantry Officer.

He held a Masters’s degree from the Nigerian Defence Academy, Salford University in the United Kingdom and a Graduate Diploma from the University of Nairobi, Kenya.

He was the commander of the Lafiya Dole operation.

The Lafiya Dole operation is the fight against militant Islamist group Boko Haram before he was redeployed in 2017.

Before his appointment, Attahiru was the General Officer commanding 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, Enugu.

On 21st May 2021, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru died in an air crash in Kaduna.
