The Sudanese government led by Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok, has foiled an attempted coup by 40 military officers in the early hours of Tuesday.
The attempt involved a group of 40 military officers who tried to seize power by taking over the state media building.
According to report, the officers have been suspended and arrested for interrogation.
A Senior member of Sudan’s ruling body, Taher Abuhaja, said “an attempt to seize power has been thwarted.”
Recall in 2019 Sudan recorded a coup d’état which took place April 11 when Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir, was overthrown by the Sudanese army following protests demanding his departure.
The army, led by Ahmed Awad Ibn Auf, took over the government with the Sudan bring ruled by both military and civilian rule following a transitional agreement reached that it would restore the government to complete civilian rule.
