A Nigerian Air Force (NAF) helicopter crashed near Chukuba village in Niger State’s Shiroro local government area.
When the incident occurred, the helicopter was en route from Niger State to Kaduna. The crash occurred in Nigeria’s north-central region during a rescue mission.
As of the time of this report, it remains to be seen whether there were any casualties or survivors, as the NAF is actively working to rescue the occupants.
According to Air Cdre Edward Gabkwet, the NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, the helicopter was engaged in a casualty evacuation mission before the unfortunate crash around 1pm.
Efforts are currently ongoing to rescue the crew and passengers on board the helicopter, while preliminary investigations have commenced to determine the probable cause of the crash,” said Gabkwet.
