The Acting Director Defense and Information, Brigadier General, Onyema Nwachukwu in a statement has said that President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Major General Farouq Yahaya As New Chief Of Army Staff (COAS).
He is to succeed Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru who died in an air crash in Kaduna last Friday.
Prior to his appointment Maj Gen Yahaya was the General Officer Commanding 1 Division of the Nigerian Army and the incumbent Theatre Commander of the Counter terrorism Counter Insurgency military outfit in the North East code named Operation HADIN KAI.
