A Nigerian artist known as Brymo is facing a heavy backlash over his comments on Igbo presidency.
Brymo said that he does not believe an Igbo president is best for Nigeria at this time, adding that the closest an Igbo should be to presidency is to be a vice president.
Many people have expressed their disappointment over what he said and it has largely been on Twitter where the actual comment was made.
Reactions to Brymo’s Controversial Comments
Adenekan Mayowa wrote:
“Brymo utterly irrational tweet against the Igbos is heartbreaking and more than xenophobia; those close to him should keep an eye on him. A healthy mind would not hold such an opinion. I expected him to be a wise man because he makes good music but he’s far from wise.”
Toluwani Akinpade reacted:
“Brymo’s tweets are crazy mehn, and I’m ashamed as a Yoruba man. My apologies to Igbo people please, look at Obasanjo and PA Adebanjo. The sensible Yorubas love and cherish you all and we want Peter Obi. We believe in equity, fairness, and justice.”
David Hundeyin said:
“It’s not as if Brymo has more than his one vote. But it just pains me because I hate having to cancel artists that I love. I don’t separate the artist from the art, I’m sorry. I feel betrayed. It’s like discovering that Ayra Starr is actually @Wizarab10in drag. That’s why Vector and Johnny Drilled are clear. Just good vibes and music promotion all over their social media pages. Whatever opinions they hold thus remain private, as is their right. I beseech the ancestors not to take these 2 away from me.”
What’s Next for Brymo?
Brymo has not retracted or offered an apology yet.
IkejaBird gathered that Brymo had earlier announced that his next music project will be available for N500 million naira and only copy will be sold.
