She is a Nigerian former athlete in the long jump.

She was born December 25th, 1970.

She is from Ahiazu-Mbaise in Imo state.

She is the first Nigerian athlete to win an Olympic gold medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta.

She is the first black African woman to win an Olympic gold medal in a field event.

She held that position for 25years until another Nigerian, Ese Brume broke the record.

She is the first and only woman to compete in the FIFA Women’s World Cup as a footballer.

She was active and successful in the women’s long jump event.She was not only good in athletics, Ajunwa also played football.

Chioma played football up to international level as she was part of the Super Falcons squad that represented Nigeria at the 1991 FIFA Women’s World Cup in China.

She cut short her football career because a particular coach keeps her on the bench throughout every match.

She is the Assistant Commissioner of Police.

She launched the Chioma Ajunwa-Okpara Foundation to discover new Nigerian stars in sports.
