The current economic climate has made it increasingly difficult for many Nigerians to explore new experiences or try out different leisure activities. As a result, outings have become more predictable, with cinema and restaurant dates dominating the social scene.
For individuals looking to break away from routine, you can try something as spontaneous as salsa dancing.
A number of restaurants now host dance nights that include salsa and other Latin and Afro-inspired styles, such as Bachata, Kizomba, and Afro dance, creating an engaging experience.
Here are three (3) spots in Ikeja where you can try Salsa dancing:
- RHAPSODY’S

On Tuesday nights, Rhapsody’s at Ikeja City Mall comes alive with a Salsa and Afro Dance Party. Known for its contemporary lounge setting, the venue offers a lively yet intimate atmosphere for dance enthusiasts. The sessions typically run from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., attracting both beginners and experienced dancers.
- MINT LOUNGE

Situated at No.1 Adekunle Fajuyi Way, GRA-Ikeja, Mint Lounge provides a polished and upscale setting for dance lovers. Every Friday from 7:00 p.m., the venue hosts a TGIF Latin Dance Party, drawing a mix of regular dancers and first-timers looking to unwind at the end of the week. While entry is free, bar patronage is compulsory.
- CHOCO’S BISTRO

Every Thursday from 7:00 p.m., Choco’s Bistro and Lounge also hosts an Afro Latin Dance Party that has gradually grown into a weekly tradition among regular attendees. As with other locations, entry is free, but guests are expected to patronise the venue. The location is No.53b Oduduwa Way, GRA-Ikeja.
Whether or not you’re a good dancer, this is one side quest you should definitely give a try. Drag your friends or lovers, or better still, experience this with strangers.
