In a troubling incident, gunmen who are suspected to be kidnappers have abducted a highly respected leader, known as the first-class monarch of Gurku chiefdom in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Mr. Jibril Mamman Waziri, and his wife, Mrs. Sa’adatu Waziri.
Late in the evening on Sunday, around 10 p.m., these kidnappers entered the chief’s palace, which is situated in a mountainous region.
A person from the community, who wanted to remain anonymous,shared that this unfortunate event happened while most of the residents were asleep.

They have to be released as soon as possible
The gunmen took advantage of the situation, and there wasn’t enough help from the security authorities to stop them.
The police are aware of the situation, as confirmed by the Nasarawa State Police Command’s spokesperson, DSP. Ramhan Nansel.
Nansel said,
“On August 6, 2023, at around 10 p.m., we received a call reporting that the palace of the Chief of Gurku had been invaded by suspected kidnappers. The chief and his wife were taken away to an unknown place. Despite searching the surrounding areas, we couldn’t find them.”
The Police Commissioner, Mr. Maiyaki Baba, took action immediately by sending a team of police officers along with local vigilantes to the scene. Even though they searched the area, they couldn’t locate the chief and his wife.

Group call for investigation as unknown gunmen invade school, kill two in Lagos
In another news, a non-profitable association, Club Seventies Epe (CSE), has called for the investigation into the death of a student and a teacher in Epe Local Government Area of Lagos.
They appealed to the Lagos State Government, Nigerian Police Force, Traditional Council of Obas’ and Chiefs and the Nigerian Union of Teachers to bring the culprit to book, urging the government to put measures for adequate security in the area.
The President, Ibrahim Sanuth in a statement while condemning the killing said Razak Bakare, a student of Michael Otedola College of Primary Education (MOCPED).
