2024 was packed with amazing sports moments. Let’s start with the big wins at home before looking at the global stage.
Nigeria’s Best Moments
The Super Falcons gave us plenty to cheer about. They won the Women’s African Cup of Nations again, beating South Africa in a thrilling final.
Tobi Amusan was unstoppable. She broke her own world record at the Paris Olympics, showing once again why she’s a champion.
D’Tigers also made history. They won the FIBA Africa Championship, and their teamwork was inspiring to watch.
Big Wins Around the World
In football, Lionel Messi helped Inter Miami win their first-ever CONCACAF Champions League title. Over in Europe, Real Madrid won the UEFA Champions League.
The Paris Olympics had everyone talking. An American swimmer, Mia Henderson, made waves with five gold medals.
Tennis had its moments too. Carlos Alcaraz and Coco Gauff both grabbed Grand Slam wins, proving they’re the stars of tomorrow.
Surprises and Underdogs
This year had its share of surprises. Morocco won gold in men’s football at the Olympics, their first ever. Afghanistan shocked the cricket world by making it to the ICC T20 World Cup final.
What Made This Year Special
2024 wasn’t just about trophies. It was about moments that brought us together. Nigerian kids were recreating Tobi Amusan’s hurdles, and fans everywhere cheered their hearts out for their teams.
