Woodberry, also known as Jacob Olalekan Ponle, has been sentenced to eight years and three months in prison by Judge Robert Gettleman of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois in Chicago.

 Woodberry was convicted for his involvement in a multimillion-dollar fraud scheme.

He was arrested on June 10, 2020, along with Ramon ‘Hushpuppi’ Abbas, who was previously sentenced to 11 years in prison for internet fraud.

Guilty of fraud 

Woodberry’s charges stemmed from his alleged coordination of a scheme that deceived American companies into sending wire transfers totalling millions of dollars.

 Prosecutors stated that Woodberry targeted businesses in California, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, and New York.

He was charged with wire fraud conspiracy following his arrest in the United Arab Emirates in June 2020 and subsequent extradition to the US.
