Shortly after Cristiano Ronaldo signed one of the most lucrative deals in football, joining the Saudi side Al Nassr – Lionel Messi was also heavily linked with Al Hilal who are hoping to go a notch higher than what Ronaldo got to bring him to their side.
It was reported that Al Hilal were proposing to sign the World cup winner with an astounding $400 million.
Although this news has been widely reported, the Saudi Chief Ibrahim Alkassim who is the the general secretary of the Saudi Football Federation said he is not aware of the deal.
“At the moment we do not know anything about a possible Lionel Messi arrival. Although I do not hide that, as Saudi Federation, we would like to have him one day in the domestic league. The idea of the Federation is always to improve our football, and of course we would like to see Cristiano and Messi in the same league again, but the truth is that we don’t know anything now.”
Earlier today, Fabrizio Romano reported that Messi will meet with PSG tonight to discuss his new contract and then sign it thereafter.
