There is a video circulating on social media that shows Nigerian police officers brutally beating a young boy who refused to hand over his phone to them at Ojo local government

It is common practice for Nigerian police to confiscate phones from young boys, especially if they have expensive ones, which is bad. However, this particular boy stood up for his rights and refused to give his phone to the officers.

The video shows about three or four officers violently attacking the boy, with one of them even holding a gun. Despite his resistance, the boy was eventually forced into their police vehicle. The person who recorded the incident claimed that the officers planned to strip him naked and continue beating him.

Police brutality is rampant in Nigeria

Unfortunately, it is a well-known fact that Nigerian police often violate the human rights of Nigerians, subjecting them to physical abuse and mistreatment under the guise of maintaining security.

 Nigerian boys who work hard to acquire something for themselves, such as an expensive phone, are frequently targeted by the police, who beat them severely when they are found in possession of such items.

Seun Kuti arrested and in handcuffs for assaulting a police officer

In another news, Popular Nigerian Afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti has been put in handcuffs and arrested following his assault on a police officer.

In a video that was making rounds on the internet, the grammy award nominee was captured violently assaulting a police officer who was very calm and didn’t react at all to his assault.

Following the video, Suen Kuti took to his Instagram story to explain why he had reacted like that when many Nigerians stood up in defence of the Police officer.
