The electoral tribunal looking into the the governorship election in Osun state has sacked Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a judgement on Friday, January 27, the tribunal led by Justice Tetsea Kume declared former governor Gboyega Oyetola as the winner of the July 16, 2022, guber election.
Announcing the majority decision, Justice Kume declared that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) did not follow the due process as stipulated in the Electoral Acts.
He said former governor Oyetola won the election having polled 314,921 while PDP’s Adeleke polled 290,266.
Justice Kume directed the electoral umpire to withdraw the certificate issued to Adeleke and issue a new one to Oyetola.
