Nigerian Hip-hop legend, Dapo Daniel Oyenbanji popularly known as D’banj, has broken silence following his release by the anti-corruption agency Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC).

It would be recalled that the Oliver Twist crooner was arrested and detained by the anti-graft body over an alleged fraud involving N-Power project, an empowerment programme set up by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government in 2016 to address youth unemployment and increase social development.

The celebrity was accused of fraudulently diverting hundreds of millions of naira earmarked for the socio-empowerment project.

He was, however, released by the ICPC following a viral note by his legal team accusing the ICPC of fraustrating the singer’s release despite meeting bail conditions.

Speaking on his release in a post on his official verified Instgram account @iambangalee which was sighted by Ikejabird, the singer thanked his fans for the love during the turbulent time.

D’Banj also allayed fear of his arrest and detention, saying he was granted bail on self-recognition.

The singer and father of one said he was released “because nothing was seen or found” on him.

“Global thank you to the world. I was invited on an ongoing investigation in ICPC. I have assisted the commission with all I know and I am confident in their capacity to unravel the truth. I have no business with fraud, all I do is chop life. I was released on self-recognition because nothing was seen or found on me. God bless you all my people,” the 42-year-old said.

Since his breakthrough in 2004 with “Suddenly”, D’Banj has cemented himself as a legend of the Nigerian music industry with numerous award won by the singer, rapper and television personality.
