Nigerians celebrated after Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen was named the best player in a Champions League match. Osimhen helped Napoli win 2-1 against Braga in their first game of the 2023–24 UEFA Champions League season.

In his previous game, Osimhen played in a match where Genoa and Napoli tied 2-2, but he didn’t score.

During the game against Braga, Osimhen almost scored a goal in the 10th minute, but the Braga goalkeeper, Matheus Magalhaes, stopped him.

Osimhen also made a fantastic pass to Giovanni Di Lorenzo, who managed to score despite facing tough defense from Braga, giving Napoli a 1-0 lead.

Some fans even joked that Erling Haaland, another famous footballer, might want to ask for Osimhen’s award.

Osimhen and Haaland: Who is better 

Football fans around the world are discussing who the top striker in the world is, and two names keep coming up: Victor Osimhen and Erling Haaland from Manchester City.

Osimhen played a crucial role in Napoli winning their first Serie A title in more than 30 years. Last season in Italy, he was the leading goal scorer with 26 goals in Serie A.

Haaland also had an outstanding season with Manchester City, helping them win three major trophies.

These two players are often compared when it comes to deciding who is the best striker in the world.

In another news, Super Eagles striker  Victor Osimhen has been nominated for the prestigious Best FIFA Men’s Player of the Year award alongside some big names like Messi, Haaland, and Mbappe. 

Osimhen has shown remarkable skill and performance over the last two years, but his standout year was the previous season. 

The 24-year-old Nigerian striker inspired Napoli to win their first Scudetto in 33 years. He achieved this by scoring an impressive 26 goals in Italy’s Serie A, making him the highest-scoring African player in the league.
