In a groundbreaking achievement, a Nigerian, Helen Adenike Williams, has officially set the Guinness World Record for the longest handmade wig.
The Guinness World Records recently confirmed this extraordinary feat, which was accomplished in July 2023.
After Hilda Baci set the record for the longest cooking marathon, many Nigerians felt inspired to go for their own records. Now, Helen Adenike Williams has made her mark in the Guinness Book of Records, just like Hilda Baci, the Kipo brothers, and others.

The making of the wig took 11 days for Helen, and it stretches an incredible 351.28 meters. She also spent over two million naira in the making of the wig.
Helen shared with GWR that her biggest challenge was finding a space long enough for the wig. After careful consideration, she decided to use the Lagos–Abeokuta Expressway.

Not only is she an entrepreneur, but she’s also the CEO of Hair Rita 9ja, a successful hair business she started in 2019.
With eight years of experience as a professional wigmaker, Helen produces an impressive range of 50 to 300 wigs per week.

Nigerian hair vendor, Helen Williams, received approval from Guinness World Records to attempt the record for the longest handmade wig.
Helen Williams runs a private hairdressing salon from where she gets most of her income.
