The Nigeria Police Force has launched a 24-hour emergency reporting channel dedicated to school safety and protecting students across the country.
The newly established Schools Protection Squad (SPS) Command and Control Centre, based at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, will coordinate the initiative and respond to reports of threats within school environments.
According to the Police, the channel is open to receive reports relating to attacks on schools and student hostels, bullying, harassment, molestation, kidnapping, abduction, and other security concerns affecting students and educational institutions.
The hotline will also receive information on suspicious movements around schools and suspicious individuals observed on routes used by students and staff.
The Schools Protection Squad can be reached 24 hours a day through calls or WhatsApp messages on 08077357777. The service is designed to receive SOS reports and facilitate rapid responses to school-related emergencies.
Authorities stressed that early reporting is critical to preventing danger, allowing security agencies to intervene before incidents escalate and ensuring a safer learning environment for children.
The initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security around schools in Nigeria amid threat concern.
Parents, students, teachers, school administrators, community leaders, and members of the public have been urged to promptly report potential threats to help prevent security breaches and protect lives.
