In a press conference, Niger State Governor, Mohammed Bago, issued a stern warning to members of the palliative distribution committee, stating that anyone found diverting materials meant for the residents would face imprisonment.
The governor emphasized that the government had already obtained a summon from the court in anticipation of any deviance.
Governor Bago announced the commencement of palliative distribution in the state, revealing that the items for distribution included N2 billion received from the Federal Government and five trucks of rice.

Governor declares 3-day holiday to distribute palliatives
Additionally, 40,000 bags of maize were expected, with another N2bn anticipated from the Federal government.
To ensure proper distribution, the governor declared a three-day holiday, during which public and civil servants were directed to go to their respective constituencies.
The distribution would cover all wards, units, and local government areas in Niger State.
Governor Bago also outlined plans to provide free public transport to all public and private students across Niger State, along with discounted rates for civil servants.
This initiative would be implemented before December, with 200 luxurious buses allocated for this purpose. Specifically, 100 buses would ply the Suleja-Abuja route, while 50 buses would be deployed in Minna, and the remaining 50 would be distributed among the local governments.
The governor’s proactive measures and commitment to ensuring the fair distribution of palliative materials demonstrate the government’s dedication to supporting the residents of Niger State during these challenging times.
