Personnel of the Tanita Security Service shared that they had a very hard time investigating the suspicious vessel because it was been escorted by a Navy boat led by a senior naval commander. The vessel was also reported to have been tagged MT Praisel and had a Togolese flag.
It was revealed that the team met with a lot of resistance from the navy escorting the boat and the naval officer promising and threatening to deal with them, however, the operatives refused to back down.
The Tanita Security Service team had to reach out to National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu and the Chief of Naval Staff Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla to give them the go-ahead to search the vessel which they did.
Investigations by the team proved that the vessel was indeed authorized to carry products by the navy but did not have the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).
