Literary Icon, Prof. Wole Soyinka has given his opinion on Muslims demanding an apology from well-known singer, Davido over the video, ‘Jaye Lo.
Recall that Ikejabird reported that Davido took to his social account a music video of his new signee, Logos Olori’s new single, Jaye Lo.
However, following this, many Muslims took to social media to demand the singer’s apology and take down the video.

Davido eventually yield to their demands and deleted the video on his accounts, however, he refused to make a public apology to the Muslims as they demanded.
A recent video circulating the internet captured how some Muslim youths took to the streets of Maiduguri, the Borno state capital to set a large banner of Davido’s picture on fire, demanding an apology from him.
Speaking on this, according to Daily Post, the Nobel Laureate defended Davido as he maintained that he does not need to apologize.
According to him, the former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El Rufai had made offensive comments against Christians in the past but was never attacked or asked to apologize.
“There was nothing to apologize about, and that applied equally to El Rufai’s comments at the time. It should come as no surprise that I equally absolutely disagree with Shehu Sani if indeed, as reported, he has demanded an apology from Davido on behalf of the Moslem community,” he said.
He also added that Davido’s music video was not the cause of the Deborah Yakubu, (a second-year Christian college student who was killed by a mob of Muslim students in Sokoto last year over alleged blasphemy) death.

Davido receives backlash over new signee music video
Meanwhile, the new music video ‘Jaye Lo’ by Logos Olori, who is part of Davido Music Worldwide (DMW), has faced significant criticism, particularly from Muslims who found it offensive and disrespectful to their religion.
After releasing the video, Davido, the head of DMW, shared a short clip on Twitter, showing people praying and dancing in front of a mosque, while encouraging his fans to stream the song.
Davido received criticism from Muslim fans for posting this video on his social media platforms because some Muslims found the scenes shot in a mosque-like setting to be offensive.
