Following the death of Whitney Adeniran, a 12-year-old pupil of Chrisland Schools in Ikeja, Lagos State on Thursday: Lagos State government has once again shut down the school to investigate the circumstances that led to her death.
According to AriseTV, the school will be closed pending till the outcome of the investigation.
Blessing Adeniran, Whitney’s mother, was critical about the narration given by the school on Sunday regarding the circumstances that led to the death of her daughter.
Blessing insisted the school made no provision for emergency situations as they claimed in their narration adding that her daughter was not suffering from any heart complications.
Folasade Adefisayo, the Lagos State Commissioner for Education had commented on the event before ordering the immediate closure of the school on Sunday.
“We also note the impact of this unfortunate event on family, friends, and acquaintances of Whitney and call for calm as we assure that no effort will be spared in investigating the incident,” she stated.
Chrisland dismissed the suggestion that there had been a criminal act in Whitney’s death while citing that the incident happened in public.
IkejaBird gathered that Chrisland School had been at the center of several unfortunate events in the past; four teachers were arraigned after a sex tape by Chrisland pupils surfaced online in 2022. Also, a former VGC school teacher was given a 60-year prison term for raping a two-year-old girl in 2016.
