A high court in Adamawa has sentenced a 40-year-old man, Bangos Adamu, to death by hanging for killing his wife and his stepson.
The police dragged the convict, who is a farmer, before the court for killing his wife with an axe and hacking her child with a cutlass.
He said he went into their room with an axe and a cutlass to attack them following an argument which ensued over choice of breakfast.
Bangos said he married his late wife, Regina Bangos, after she was divorced by her former husband and she came to his house with the murdered son, Revelation, whom she had for her ex husband.
He revealed in court that when they had a misunderstanding, the deceased would complain and threatened to return to her former husband which would also be supported by his seven-year-old stepson.
After careful examination of the case, Justice Fatimah Tafida of an Adamawa High court sentenced him to death by hanging.
