Sodiq Alabi, an Iwo-based worker, has reacted to Nigerians comparing Peter Obi with Muhammadu Buhari whose campaign in 2015 also swept the entire nation.
Alabi said there are no similarities between the two other than the fact that they were both politicians.
He insisted that a Peter Obi presidency will not turn out to be like that of President Buhari whose two-term is generally believed to leave so much to be desired.
“I see a lot of people comparing Peter Obi and Buhari of 2014/15 and I think this is a misreading of the two situations.
“The only thing Buhari and Obi have in common is limited to the extremism and self-righteous posturing of some of their supporters. Apart from this, the candidacies of Obi and Buhari could not be more different.
He pointed out that Buhari was a military dictator with instances of abuse of power and economic illiteracy while Peter Obi is a successful businessman.
“He also a former governor of a state in democratic Nigeria, without any history of participation in, let alone leading, a dictatorship.
“How does one even begin to compare the two men? Those of us who supported Buhari in 2015 need to stop projecting our own incredible lapse of judgement in promoting an unapologetic military dictator onto people who are promoting a former governor and businessman. Not the same thing. At all,” he said.
Election Draws Near
Peter Obi, the Labour Party Presidential Candidate will hope to earn votes on February 25 to become Nigeria’s next president.
Ahmed Bola Tinubu of All Progressiver Congress and Atiku Abubakar of People’s Democratic Party will also be on the ballot paper with the same objective.
