A judge in Spain has issued a restraining order against former football leader Luis Rubiales, keeping him at least 200 meters away from footballer Jenni Hermoso.

This decision comes as part of a legal case investigating allegations of sexual assault and coercion.

During the court appearance, Rubiales denied the accusations that he sexually assaulted Ms. Hermoso by kissing her on the lips following Spain’s Women’s World Cup victory.

However, Ms. Hermoso’s lawyer argued that the kiss was non-consensual.

Mr. Rubiales recently resigned from his role as head of the football federation, and he faced these charges in a closed court session.

The judge agreed to the restraining order but reduced the distance to 200 meters and also prohibited any contact between Rubiales and the player during the investigation.

The controversy surrounding Rubiales’ actions after Spain’s Women’s World Cup win has cast a shadow over the team’s success.

There’s still an unresolved boycott of the national team, with 39 players expressing that the changes made by the football federation are insufficient for them to feel safe and supported.
