The Governor of Oyo State Seyi Makinde has told the people of his state that they can vote for a candidate of their choice.
The governor made this statement while addressing a town hall meeting in Ibadan on Wednesday.
While Makinde asked his followers to vote for People Democratic Party candidates vying for House of Representatives and Senate, he indicated that voters should look beyond party lines while choosing their presidential candidate on February 25.
“For the Senate and House of Rep. Vote for PDP. For President, vote for Unity, Inclusivity and Equity,” he said.
The governor has ultimately leveled the playing field for the presidential candidates who can now woo eligible voters to their side.
Governor Makinde also took the opportunity to appeal to his people to be calm and shun violence ahead of the election.
“Some years back, I was the one standing on SDP poduim, Teslim was standing on PDP podium. Now I am in PDP, and He is in APC. I am just saying, please, election will come and go, dont lose your life because of any politician (including me),” he added.
The first time governor is looking to extend his tenure for another four years at the polls on March 14.
