Lionel Messi given monarch welcome upon PGS return after World Cup (Video)

After guiding his country to a second World Cup glory in Qatar, Lionel Messi has finally returned to his club Paris Saint Germain in France.

Messi returned amid ovations from his team mates and members of the PSG staff. A video of him at the French league leaders’ training ground shows his colleagues giving him a guard of honour.

The Argentine was also presented with an award in recognition of his incredible contribution to his country cruising to victory in the Arab nation.

Ikeja Bird recalls that Messi was massively instrumental to Argentina’s World Cup win, producing 7 goals and a couple of assists in the tournament.

The Barcelona legend scored two goals in the final against resilient Kylian Mbappe-led France and later went to net a decisive penalty at the extra time as Argentina won the coveted trophy with a short margin.

The 35-year-old was handed the golden boot trophy as the best player of the tournament having inspired the Lionel Scaloni side back to the track following a shocking first game defeat to Saudi Arabia.

Messi is expected to sign a new contract that will see him stay with the Parisians till 2025.

Accord to Italian Football journalist Fabrizio Romanio, the Argentine has had a β€œverbal pact” with PSG and there will be a new meeting with his camp to discuss length of contract, salary and more.
