Vice President , Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has underscored the need for mutual collaboration between traditional rulers and government at all levels to tackle insecurity in the country.
In a statement on his Facebook page, Osinbajo noted that traditional rulers were essential in addressing conflicts that lead to insecurity across the federation.
He spoke during courtesy visits to the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, HRM Dr Emmanuel Ekemejewan Sideso; and the Olu of Warri, HRM Ogíame Atuwatse III in Delta State at the weekend.
He said: “With the number of security challenges facing the country in recent times, the collaboration between traditional rulers across the country and Government at all levels is even more critical now towards improving security nationwide.
“We recognise that the traditional rulership of our country holds a moral place in the life and esteem of our people, and it is that moral place that we, very frequently, have to call upon, in order to mediate and douse some of the conflicts that give rise to the security challenges that we have.”
