Popular Nigerian comedian AY Makun recently addressed the allegations made by controversial afrobeat artist Seun Kuti.
Seun Kuti accused AY of making jokes about him and his daughter, even going so far as to refer to his daughter as a dog.
He claimed that when AY’s house caught fire earlier this year, he immediately went live on social media to document the incident, except for the moment AY portrayed his daughter as a dog in a skit video.

AY comedian replies Seun kuti
In response to these allegations, AY released a video where he denied ever referring to Seun Kuti’s daughter as a dog.
He clarified that many of his jokes are based on trending issues, and the specific skit Seun referred to was unrelated to Seun Kuti’s daughter but instead revolved around the controversial Hilda Baci incident, where she faced criticism for cooking and eating dogs as a delicacy.
AY emphasized that he used this incident for his skit material.
Additionally, AY subtly hinted that his style of comedy, which involves using current events for humor, was influenced by Seun Kuti’s late father, Fela Kuti, who was known for mocking politicians and creating content through satire during his time.
This response aimed to clarify his comedic approach and distance himself from the accusations made by Seun Kuti.
