Hushpuppi to bag prison sentence for $24m fraud on Feb 14

Social media influencer Ramon Abbas Olorunwa, popularly known as Hushpuppi will get a prison sentence  from a United States court on February 14 for alleged laundering  of $24 million.

Foreign  online sources confirmed that he  will be sentenced  after about  two years in detention in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates and Los Angeles in the United States.

It was learnt that the U.S. Department of Justice on Tuesday confirmed the date to be February 14.

Hushpuppi, who pleaded guilty on April 20, 2021,is an online cult hero with 2.5 million followers on Instagram, where he regularly posts pictures.

It was gathered that court documents in California revealed that Hushpuppi’s crimes led to victims’ loss of about  $24 million.

He could bag a prison sentence of  20 years and repay the victims.

Hushpuppi was said to have  attempted to steal more than $1.1 million from an unidentified person in Qatar who wanted to pay children’s  school fees.
