Alejandro Garnacho, Manchester United’s 17-year-old striker, is facing criticism for copying Cristiano Ronaldo’s famous “Siu” celebration after scoring a spectacular bicycle kick goal last week.
Garnacho netted the opening goal just three minutes into United’s 3-0 drubbing of Everton. After firing a volleyball-style kick into the top corner, the young Argentine wheeled away and unleashed Ronaldo’s trademark celebration in front of frenzied away fans.
But Arturo Vidal, the former Barcelona and Juventus midfielder, believes Garnacho was wrong to copy his idol’s celebration rather than creating his own.

“It’s good that [Ronaldo] is his idol, respect for that, but then he has to make his name,” Vidal said recently. “How are you going to celebrate a goal and remember it? I don’t know, celebrate it another way.”
While commending Garnacho’s “great goal,” Vidal urged the rising talent to establish himself independently from Ronaldo.
Garnacho is a self-professed Ronaldo superfan, having previously recreated the Portuguese icon’s “arms-outstretched” celebration earlier this season.
But despite criticism, Garnacho’s stunning goal and electric performance earned widespread plaudits – even if his homage to CR7 didn’t sit well with some.
