David Adeleke “Davido” a musician and philanthropist with countless hits to his name is one of the most loved artist in Nigeria music space.
He has also experienced the loss of close family and friends. The death of his 3 year old son shocked everyone who heard the news.
Ikejabird take a look at friends, business associates and family of Davido who have died between 2017 till date.
1. Tagbo
Tagbo Umeike was the first friend Davido lost in October 2017 due to excessive in-take of alcohol and suffocation according to autopsy.
2. DJ Olu
Another close pal of the famous singer was Olugbenga Abiodun, known as DJ Olu. The son of the current governor of Ogun state was found in his BMW dead just a few weeks after the death of Tagbo.
3. Chime
Chime Amaechi was also in the same car with DJ Olu. The police found hard drugs in the deceased car. The two victims aged 25 were found dead inside the car in a packing lot of their serviced apartment.
4. King Jhafi
In 2020, Davido took to his Instagram page to announce the death of a close friend, Ahmed. Although the cause of his death is not known, it came 3 years after the demise of Tagbo, Chime and DJ Olu.
5. Uncle Tunji
The bodyguard of the sensational musician died too in 2020, he had served Davido for 11 years. The musician described the death of his bodyguard Tunji as the most painful thing for him and his family.
He made this known on his Instagram page.
6. Obama DMW
Obama DMW, also died on June 29, 2021. The musician manager who died at a hospital after a case of heart failure.
7. Fortune
Fortune was Davido’s personal photographer and toured with him over 50 cities in the world (including the Middle East, United Kingdom, South Africa and other parts of Africa). The photographer died in while working. He was reported to have drowned.
The famous musician and one of Nigeria’s biggest export has endured so much pain, having to lose many close friends which he said was the reason behind the release of his latest single “Stand strong” in 2022.
