Arsenal went back to the top of the Premier League table following a 1-0 win over Chelsea at the Bridge.
The Gunners have proven beyond reasonable doubt that they are ready to win the title again after many years.
Mikel Arteta’s side have only suffered a defeat this season in 13 matches played so far.
Here are the five things we learnt in the London derby
1. The Gunners settled quickly into the game
Arsenal had more possession of the ball as Chelsea struggled to hold on to play in the midfield.
Arteta’s men created decent chances and should have gone 1-0 up after Gabriel Jesus missed a glaring chance on goal.
2. Chelsea’s midfield questionable
Jorginho, Rueben Loftus-Cheek and Mason Mount manned the midfield but struggled in most parts of the first half as Arsenal’s smooth provided more space in the attacking third.
Martin Odegaard, Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka controlled the center better than their opponents who could not string passes together on several occasions.
3. Arteta’s attacking trio caused Chelsea problems all day
Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka and Jesus were on rampage at Stamford Bridge, forcing errors from Chelsea defenders and not allowing them to start play for the jittery Ferland Mendy.
Chelsea’s error-prone defence led to the only goal of the match after Thiago Silva lost possession which resulted into a corner kick for Gabriel’s goal.
4. Arsenal were far the better team
Chelsea failed to land a reasonable save from Aaron Ramsdale as the Blues showed incompetency in creating meaningful chances.
Kai Havertz on two occasions could not get the ball across to Pierre-Emerik Aubameyang who was perfectly placed for a tap-in.
Raheem Sterling who was Chelsea’s best player on the pitch was left frustrated on the right wing by Oleksandre Zinchenko.
5. Chelsea are technically out of the EPL race
With the way Graham Potter’s men have played all season, the Blues will be battling for a top four finish rather than the title itself.
The Blues have struggled to beat a top 4 team in the Premier League this season and have not been convincing against other top side in the English topflight division.
The Β£200m spent in during the transfer window is not yielding the desired result despite the change in the backroom staff.
