Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the ruling party All progressives Congress (APC), has signed the peace accord ahead of the presidential election.
The APC flagbearer signed the accord on Wednesday, February 22, with the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar.
Also present at the accord signing meeting were sixteen other presidential candidates of other political parties, including Peter Obi, the candidate of Labour Party.
Omoyele Sowore, the revolutionary activist and the candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) and Rabiu Musa Kwakwanso, ANPP candidate, were also present.
The meeting was also graced by President Muhammadu Buhari and former leaders of the country, including General Absulsalam Abdul Salam.
A peace accord is an agreement between two or more hostile parties, usually countries or governments, which formally ends a state of war between the parties.
The practice is encouraged in the Nigerian politics ahead of election to douse tension among the candidates’ supporters nationwide.
