Amaechi: Nigeria’s first Deep Seaport for test in September

Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi has said the country’s first deep seaport will be tested in September.

He also said it will receive commercial vessels.

Amaechi noted that it was expected to start operations before January 2023.

He made this known during the visit of president Muhammadu Buhari early this week.

He conducted the president round the project after the inauguration of the N42.5 billion Dangote fertilizer plant.

Amaechi said additional 1,000 hectares of land was still needed for the project.He added that it would lead to about 5,000 residents relocating in that area.

It was learnt Buhari gave a directive that the seaport be linked to the railway network.
