Aisha Buhari, the wife of Nigerian president Muhammadu Buhari and First Lady, may have shared Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s sentiment about some elements in the Aso Rock working against the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This is as the First Lady shared the video of the Kaduna governor’s interview with Channels TV where he claimed some people close to the president are working against the ruling party ahead of the coming election.
Appearing on Channels TV’s Breakfast show as a guest on Wednesday, February 1, El-Rufai confirmed that people are “hiding behind the president’s desire” to work against the APC.
“I believe there are elements in the Villa that want us to lose the election because they didn’t get their way; they had their candidate. Their candidate did not win the primaries.
“They are trying to get us to lose the election, and they are hiding behind the president’s desire to do what he thinks is right. I will give two examples: this petroleum subsidy, which is costing the country trillions of Naira, was something that we all agreed would be removed,” he said.
The video, which confirmed internal rancour in the ruling party’s structure, has since gone viral, with the clip also shared by Aisha on her Instagram handle.
The First Lady has never hidden her criticism of how things are being run under her husband. Recently, she lamented that people taking decisions in the presidency are those who did not work for the party.
She has also criticised the APC under its former national chairman and former governor of Edo state Adam Adams Oshiomhole.
