The Nigerian gospel music community is mourning the death of Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, popularly known as Toluwanisings, whose energetic performances and distinctive voice earned him recognition among gospel music lovers. The singer died on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at the age of 41. His death has sparked an outpouring of tributes from fellow musicians, entertainers, friends and fans who have taken to social media to celebrate his life and express their grief.

Toluwanisings was known for his vibrant praise songs, Yoruba-influenced gospel sound and energetic approach to worship. His music connected with listeners through messages of faith, gratitude and hope. Some of his popular songs include Kabiyesi Olorun Ayo, Unreserved Praise, A Very Big God, Eleda and I’m Not Alone. Through his recordings and live ministrations, he built a following among gospel music enthusiasts and established himself as a recognisable voice in Nigeria’s gospel music scene.
Following news of his death, several entertainers and gospel artistes have expressed their sadness. Comedian and gospel entertainer Ayo Ajewole, popularly known as Woli Agba, described the singer’s passing as “sunset at midday” in an emotional tribute. Nollywood actress Funke Akindele also mourned him, remembering him as a humble and hardworking individual. Gospel singers Adeyinka Alaseyori and Bidemi Olaoba were among those who joined others in paying tribute to the late musician, reflecting the impact he had on colleagues and admirers.

Beyond the tributes, reports about the circumstances surrounding his death have raised concerns about access to emergency medical care in Nigeria. According to reports, Toluwanisings suddenly slumped, prompting efforts to get him medical attention. His personal assistant, Babadunni Gbolabo, reportedly said the singer was taken to between seven and eight hospitals in Ibadan, with some facilities unable to admit him or provide the required assistance at the time. The account has renewed public discussion about the difficulties families may encounter when seeking urgent medical treatment. However, the precise cause of the singer’s death has not been officially established in the reports cited.
The singer had also survived a road accident in July 2026 while returning from a ministration with members of his music crew. At the time, he shared details of the incident on social media and expressed gratitude that everyone had survived. Although there is no established link between that accident and his death, the memory of the incident has added to the shock surrounding his sudden passing.

Toluwanisings is survived by his wife and children. As his family, colleagues and fans grieve, his music remains a reminder of the ministry he built and the lives he touched through worship. His death has not only left a gap in the gospel music community but has also brought renewed attention to the importance of accessible emergency medical services. For many of his listeners, his legacy will continue through the songs and memories he leaves behind.
