President Bola Tinubu is set to depart from Abuja on Sunday to attend the 78th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, USA. 

During a briefing at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, disclosed the President’s elaborate itinerary for the trip.

Aside from participating in the General Assembly’s proceedings, President Tinubu has lined up a series of key meetings with multinational executives to discuss digital transformation, innovation, and investment in Nigeria.

Tinubu will meet notable individuals

These meetings aim to facilitate the expansion of Nigeria’s digital economic footprint, improve access to smart technologies, and boost the efficiency of micro and small enterprises.

Among the notable executives President Tinubu will meet with are Brad Smith, President of Microsoft; Sir Nick Clegg, President of Global Affairs for Meta Technologies; and the global CEOs of General Electric and Exxon Mobil Oil and Gas Company. 

Discussions with these leaders will touch upon topics such as leveraging artificial intelligence, promoting sustainable development goals, and attracting investment in various sectors of Nigeria’s economy, including energy, aviation, and transportation.

He will also meet world leaders 

Furthermore, President Tinubu is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with several world leaders on the sidelines of the 78th UNGA. 

This includes US President Joe Biden, President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa, and President Luiz Lula da Silva of Brazil, among others.

The 78th UNGA session will take place in New York from September 18 to 26, providing an opportunity for President Tinubu to highlight Nigeria’s offerings, including the implementation of the Petroleum Industry Act and fiscal incentives provided by the current administration.

Tinubu to address United Nations General Assembly on the 19th of September

Meanwhile, Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu is set to make his debut on the global stage as he addresses the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York on Tuesday, September 19.

Tinubu’s speech is scheduled for the evening session, making him the fifth African leader to take the floor on the first day of the Assembly’s gathering.

He will be among a total of 20 leaders delivering speeches on the opening day.
