The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) is poised to render its judgment today in response to petitions filed by various political parties challenging the victory of President Bola Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election.
The Labour Party (LP), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), along with their respective presidential candidates, have fervently petitioned the tribunal, seeking to invalidate the election results that declared Bola Tinubu as the winner.
In a significant move towards transparency and openness, the chief registrar of the Court of Appeal, Umar Bangari, announced on Monday that the verdict of the presidential election petition tribunal would be broadcast live.

“In a bid to promote transparency and openness, these judgments will be televised live by interested Television Stations for the public to follow,” Bangari declared.
Furthermore, access to the Court premises will be strictly limited to accredited individuals, including legal counsel and representatives of the political parties involved in the case.
Members of the public eager to witness this historic moment are advised to tune in to their television sets to Channels TV to watch the proceedings.
The 2023 presidential election saw Bola Tinubu secure a total of 8,794,726 votes, surpassing Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who garnered 6,984,520 votes, and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), who received 6,101,533 votes.
However, discontent with the election results led five political parties, including the PDP, LP, Action Peoples Party (APP), Allied Peoples Movement (APM), and the Action Alliance (AA), to independently file petitions before the tribunal, collectively seeking to annul Bola Tinubu’s victory.

PEPT to deliver Presidential Election judgement on September 6th
Meanwhile, the Presidential Election Tribunal in Abuja is set to deliver its judgment on petitions challenging the election of President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday, September 6.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, representing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Peter Obi of the Labour Party, have both filed petitions before the PEPT, contesting the results of the February 25 presidential election, which saw President Bola Tinubu emerge victorious while running on the platform of the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
