Recently, the police in Delta State, located in the South-south region of Nigeria, have reported the arrest of “over a hundred gay suspects” who were allegedly involved in a gay wedding ceremony held at a local hotel.
The police found them through an official tweet posted on their Twitter account at approximately 9:06 a.m. on Tuesday.
The suspects are expected to be presented before the public in a parade shortly.

Jonathan signed the anti-gay law
According to the country’s anti-gay law, which was implemented in January 2014 during the presidency of Goodluck Jonathan, engaging in same-sex relationships is considered a criminal offense.
The law prescribes a prison sentence of up to 14 years for anyone convicted of participating in sexual activities with members of the same sex.
This is not the first time
Also, in December 2019, a group of 47 men was arrested by the police in Lagos on accusations of publicly displaying affection towards individuals of the same sex.
The men were apprehended in a hotel and subsequently arraigned in court. They all pleaded not guilty to the charges and were granted bail.
However, the legal proceedings took an unexpected turn when a federal judge dismissed the charges against the men due to what was described as a “lack of diligent prosecution” on the part of the police.

Nigerian man reveals fiancee was once married to a gay man, seeks advice
Meanwhile, when a Nigerian guy announced that his girlfriend had previously been married to a gay man, it caught the attention of online users.
The man presented the circumstance to well-known Nigerian Twitter user @jon_d_doe in order to get advice on what to do.
The man said that after learning the woman was previously married, his future spouse wanted to talk to him about something.
