“Justice served”: Adedoyin, 2 others sentenced to death by hanging over Adegoke’s murder

Rahmon Adedoyin has been sentenced to death by hanging by the Chief Judge of Osun State, Justice Oyebola Ojo over the murder of Obafemi Awolowo University student, Timothy Adegoke in November 2021.

The justice made this decision yesterday, May 30, 2023, after Adedoyin was found guilty of murder and conspiracy.

Alongside six of his hotel workers, Magdalene Chiefuna, Adeniyi Aderogba, Oluwole Lawrence, Oyetunde Kazeem, Adebayo Kunle and Adedeji Adesola, Adedoyin was charged with the killing of Adegoke.

Recall that Timothy Adegoke was declared missing on November 7, 2021, by the police in Osun state after the deceased did not show up for his postgraduate examination on November 6, 2021.

Following his sudden missing, an investigation immediately started and it was found out that his last location was the Hilton Hotel Ile-Ife owned by Rahman Adedoyin, his body was later found in a shallow grave along the Ede Road, Ile-Ife, and it was alleged that the Managing Director of the hotel, the owner’s son, Raheem Adedoyin instructed the body to be dumped there.

Justice Oyedola made it clear that although there was no direct evidence to show the convicts were indeed the murders, however, the circumstantial evidences showed otherwise.

Adedoyin alongside two of his hotel workers, Adeniyi Aderogba and Oyetunde Kazeem were sentenced to death by hanging.

The receptionist, Adedeji Adesola has been sentenced to two years in prison for the conspiracy of fabrication of the evidence that showed the deceased lodged in the hotel.

Justice Ojo, however, discharged and acquitted three of the staff members, Magdalene Chiefuna, Adebayo Kunle, and Oluwole Lawrence.

According to Vanguard, the Justice also declared that the vehicle and hotel that was used to commit the crime to be forfeited to the government, she added that the children of the deceased be placed on scholarship on the bill of Adedoyin, Adeniyi and Oyetunde.

Some suspects declared wanted by the police for the alleged murder of Timothy Adegoke are Raheem Adedoyin (Son), Esther Asigoh and Quadiri Moshood.

How court remanded ASP Vandi in prison over lawyer’s murder

In other news, the law has begun to take its course in the case of Bolanle Raheem as magistrate’s court sitting in Yaba, Lagos remanded the killer cop, Assistant Superintendent of Police Drambi Vandi in prison.

The judgement was given yesterday, December 30, after Lagos state attorney-general, Moyosore Onigbanjo, filed one count of murder against the officer.

The attorney had sought a remand order for the defendant in line with section 246 of the Administration Criminal Justice Law of Lagos, 2015.
