“He deserves people’s help”: Netizens praise 60-year-old man who has been fixing Abuja roads for 30 years

A man identified as Daniel Davou has received prayers, and praise from people after his act of generosity where he fixes bad roads made its way to social media.

Daniel is a 60-year-old man that has been fixing the bad roads in Abuja for free for over 30 years, this was revealed in a documentary that shared the story of this philanthropic man.

In the video, it was revealed that the 60-year-old man has been living in Abuja for many years with no job, however, despite his financial crisis he decided to help fix the country the little way he could.

Daniel who is well known in his community for repairing bad roads in Abuja for free stated that he was not doing this for any major reason but just to make sure that the roads were motorable for residents of the city with no problem.

“I volunteered myself to this Abuja, I have been doing this work since, I cannot count the years but I remember when I was doing this work, it’s during when Abacha died, that is the year I can only know,” he said.

Daniel came to the city to find a greener pasture, however, it was found out that he was never able to achieve what he planned because he never found a job,

“I’m from Plateau state, I don’t have work, and they say if you come to Abuja, if you struggle you will get work, that’s why I’m here,” he narrated.

“Any place that causes go slow, that means there is a pothole, so nobody can run fast to the office, so for that pothole, I will seal it, and that is what I’ve been doing, anywhere if there is no free road, I enter there and I fix it”

“I thought someone would find mercy on me and give me a job but nobody helped me, nobody has once said he will help me,” he narrated.

It was also revealed that Daniel and his children were barely surviving financially, and Nigerians were not pleased with this as many stated that he was supposed to be lifted up and helped because he was a generous man.

Many residents in Abuja shared on social media that Daniel was indeed a well-known man and ever since the video reached the internet, many have reached out to the man to help him financially.

Agbero usually takes care of young children: Nigerian man

Meanwhile, a Nigerian man named @lollypeezle tweeted about how thugs in Lagos, known as agberos or touts, often treat children with great care. 

He mentioned that they ensure the kids get on buses early for school, help them cross the roads safely, and won’t allow them to be in dangerous places.

According to netizens in the comment sections, many of these agberos come from troubled backgrounds and don’t want young people to follow the same path they took. They make sure the children go to school, protect them, and prevent them from joining bad gangs.
