Asari Dokubo, a former militant leader from the Niger Delta region, has publicly criticized President Bola Tinubu over his appointments since assuming office.
In a video that has gone viral on social media, Dokubo expressed frustration that he and his supporters have not been given positions in the new administration despite campaigning vigorously for Tinubu during the elections.
Dokubo was a prominent supporter of Tinubu’s presidential bid and organized rallies in Port Harcourt to drum up support for the now-president. He had even visited Tinubu at the Presidential Villa after the election victory.

He was banned from the presidential villa
However, the Presidency later banned ex-militants from the villa following some comments Dokubo made to the press after that meeting.
In the new video, Dokubu accused Tinubu of making “one-sided appointments” similar to former President Buhari.
He argued that while Buhari had a core base of supporters, Tinubu does not as his supporters were afraid to fully back him during the campaign.
But we staked everything and stood by you
Dokubo stated that he and his followers “staked everything” for Tinubu but have now been abandoned.
He warned Tinubu that if the pattern of appointments does not change, even his hardcore supporters like Dokubo may not be able to continue backing the president.
It remains to be seen how the Tinubu administration will respond to these criticisms from a former ally.
