In a heartfelt situation, a Nigerian student identified as Janet, who embarked on a thirty-day dry fasting has sparked a lot of concern among people.
In a video shared by @Joyce uguru, Janet’s concerned course mates paid her a visit to inquire about her absence from classes.
Despite Janet’s initial reluctance, she eventually allowed them into her lodge. The Nigerian student disclosed that she had been instructed by God to undertake the dry fast. The video showed Janet visibly losing weight as a result of the fasting.

Joyce posted, “She is our course mate whom has been absent from class for 1 month and a week now. The lodge mates complained that she refused to open the door since 1 month she started indoor prayers without food or water.
“She’s now slimmer with no energy. She is insisting that is God that instructed her and she can’t stop, we pleaded with her to at least take fruits But she refused. According to her she said God directed her to do so.”
Reactions: “She needs help”
Janet’s choice created quite a buzz online, with concerns raised about her well-being. Some attributed her decision to mental illness and urged for assistance, while others saw it as an expression of her faith. Here are some comments:
@anurika320: It’s well with her…if it’s really from GOD, He will surely prove Himself.
@abby2blessed: How many days would she have done already, for her to look like this? And she can still stand and move around and is talking like she still has energy. But filming her and putting online… I hope it was with her consent. It is well with her o.
@trendiboutique: Why does everyone know already that she’s on a 30day fast. She didn’t have to tell anyone, anyway she’s gotten her reward already. This should have been btw her and God if she’s truly on a genuine godly ordained fast!
@iamarthurvictorr: She needs medical help asap !!! She’s not mentally stable.
@inumidun: This isn’t about religion, this is personal stupidity…. They should call her parents before she dies.

Sapa: The Plight of Nigerian students
In other news, Sapa, something that I had always known to be a beautiful mountainous town in Northern Vietnam has now become the regular chorus on the lips of almost every Nigerian student.
Even after the ban of Twitter in Nigeria, her ‘coconut head’ citizens still made their way to the social media app and made it a daily trend, thanks to virtual private network, VPN.
You would regularly see tweets like “I no get crush, sapa nice one,” “sapa don push me drink garri with rain water,” “sapa dey kill person” etc.
