President Bola Tinubu has finally released the list of ministerial nominees for his cabinet, and was sent to Senate President Godswill Akpabio on Thursday morning for screening.
The list, expected to be unveiled today, includes several prominent figures from various backgrounds, reflecting Tinubu’s commitment to competence over politics in his ministerial selection process.
Among the top candidates for screening, according to Vanguard, are Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State; Dele Alake, currently serving as Special Adviser on Special Duties, Communications, and Strategy; Adegboyega Oyetola, the former governor of Osun State; Wale Edun, a prominent figure in monetary policy; and Nyesom Wike, the immediate past governor of Rivers State.

PDP party members were also included
Other notable nominees on the list include Adebayo Adelabu, former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN); Betta Edu, former Commissioner for Health in Cross River State and National Woman Leader of the APC; and Ali Pâte, a health expert associated with Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance.
The President’s decision to include former governors, technocrats, and professionals in his cabinet aligns with his vision of forming a government of national unity.
There are also indications that some leaders from the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) might be accommodated in the list.
The list will have 43 names
Having taken office on May 29, President Tinubu was expected to form his cabinet within 60 days of assuming office, in line with the constitutional requirement.
The list, comprising 43 names, one nominee per state, including the Federal Capital Territory, will also ensure representation from each of the geopolitical zones in the country.
One of the anticipated names on the list is Lateef Fagbemi, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), who may emerge as the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice.
