President Bola Tinubu’s lawyer, Wole Afolabi, has explained why the President’s certificate bears the gender designation ‘F’ for female. Afolabi revealed that a mix-up at Chicago State University (CSU) is the cause of this discrepancy.
This revelation came during an interview on Channels TV, addressing the controversy surrounding Tinubu’s certificate. Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had sought Tinubu’s certificate as part of a legal challenge.
Afolabi clarified that the transcript provided by Southwest College indicated ‘F’ but confirmed that all other details matched President Bola Tinubu’s information.

Tinubu’s lawyer shares light on the issue
He explained that the registrar at CSU stated that the mix-up occurred because the person applying for school had mistakenly checked the box for male instead of female. As a result, when the admission letter was issued, it was addressed to Mr. Tinubu.
Regarding the discrepancies in the certificates’ signatures, Afolabi mentioned that certificates were not typically issued at the time of graduation; instead, individuals had to apply for them. He also noted that the person who issued the certificate submitted to INEC may not have been at the university in 1979.

In another news, in a recent press conference, Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, the spokesperson to President Bola Tinubu, addressed the accusations made by Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Atiku had accused President Tinubu of forgery and vowed to challenge his victory in the 2023 election until the Supreme Court ruled on the matter.
During an interview with BBC, Abdulaziz dismissed Atiku’s claims, stating that the presentation of any evidence against Tinubu in the Supreme Court had reached a dead end.
