The Borno State Government has introduced a scholarship program for financially disadvantaged students pursuing postgraduate studies in science-related fields. 

This initiative aims to support students studying Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) courses at the Masters or Doctorate level.

To be eligible for the scholarship, students must have secured admission to study in select universities within Nigeria, Egypt, Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, South Africa, India, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Pakistan, or the United Kingdom.

To bridge the existing human capacity gap

Bala Isa, the executive secretary of the Borno State Scholarship Board, announced the program. 

He stated that it aligns with the state’s 25-year development plan and 10-year strategic transformation initiative, and it’s primary goal is to bridge the human capacity gap in the region.

Candidates interested in applying for the scholarship can do so through the Borno State Scholarship Board’s website, which will be accepting applications from August 4 to October 30, 2023.

Kano government provides international scholarships to people with disabilities

Meanwhile, the Kano State Government has provided overseas scholarships to Kano residents with disabilities.

According to the government, people with disabilities will benefit from the state government’s foreign scholarship program provided they meet the requirements.

Alhaji Umar Haruna Doguwa, the State Commissioner for Education, made the announcement on Thursday
